Medicinal Chai Tea
Serves 4 cups
Simmer 1.5 litres of water in a large pan and add:
Tea base: use either 2 tbs tulsi, 1 tbs rooibos leaves or 1 tbs loose black tea
1 tsp grated nutmeg
1 tsp whole black pepper corns
1 tsp turmeric
1 medium chilli, chopped
3 small cinnamon sticks
5 star anise
5 cloves
1 inch of ginger, grated
5 strands of saffron
5 opened cardamon pods
1/4 vanilla pod
1 pea size of shilajit
Simmer for 15-20 minutes and strain. Serve plain or with milk and sweetener of your choice. You can top up the pan with water and re-use the spices a couple of times.
